I had time to kill today and came upon this spoof on memory loss. Not the mean kind of jab at dementia or Alzheimer Disease ... that's not nice or funny or even morally correct ... what I am talking about it is that slight memory loss experienced by ladies like me in that wonderful stage of 'mental pause'.
Please check out this youtube video featuring award-winning cabaret singer Pam Peterson singing a funny parody about the challenges of an aging memory. I haven't heard of Pam before today, but she is a treat to watch.
If you are a Seinfeld fan ... like myself ... the mere mention of Marble Rye makes you smile.
How could you not chuckle while watching THAT episode?
You see George needs a marble rye
Jerry agrees to purchase one, but arrives just as the last one is sold
He tries to persuade the woman to sell her rye for $50
But she refuses
Jerry is therefore (?) forced to steal the marble rye
Oh, I can't do the episode justice ... watch an excerpt here on youtube ...
Well after years and years, I have finally purchased and experienced a marble rye. Most definitely a beautiful and tasty loaf. Now I can sleep at nights with a first hand knowledge of what all the fuss was about back on the Marble Rye episode.
During the holiday week ... between Christmas and New Years ... Hubby always takes a vacation. A much needed vacation. During that time he and I often ditch the kids and take a few adventures. Don't worry, no kids have been harmed during these adventures ... In fact they have long since 'ditched us'.
Anyway, after a drive out to White Rock ... I'll share those pictures with you later .. we found a Cupcake shop. Yumm-O as Rachel Ray would say.
We held back our temptation to buy a box of 12 ...
This feat was contributed to sheer will power but was combined with the hefty price of these cupcakes ...
And opted to purchase just two.
Mine was called CARAMELLA ... on the left
and Hubby picked a SNOWFLAKE cupcake
They survived the ride in the car as we drove to White Rock beach
and then further endured a short walk to a picnic table
where we decided to indulge in their goodness
As Hubby tried his, I snapped a few pictures of the occasion
Soon it was too much for me to take, so I dove into my treat.
Well worth the $3.25 a piece.
Check out this short youtube video of the shop where we purchased the cupcakes
Christmas is around the corner, folks are traveling here and there visiting, kids are home from school ... all the more reason to take extra caution while driving.
Years ago, my hubby and I made a personal decision never to drink alcohol ... EVER. I am not here to stand on a soap box preaching the benefits of being a teetotaler, but for those that do partake, please think.
Don't drink and drive ... and ruin not only someone's Christmas, but someone's life.
The Canadian police force ... the Royal Canadian Mounted Police ... are airing this short commercial on TV for the month of December as a reminder to assign a designated driver, or use OPERATION RED NOSE. A program that gets you AND your vehicle home safely for FREE.
A few days ago I attached a youtube video featuring the talents of Chris Wheeler who is field reporter for British Columbia. His videos are AMAZING to say the least.
I found this one video that I would like to share with you today about
Kooza by Cirque de Soleil.
MAGNIFICIENT... DEATH DEFYING ... REALLY NEAT-O
Ahh ... Words can't describe ... Just check it out yourself
Last week Dreamer and her boyfriend (Dan the Man) traveled north to Salmon Arm to visit his brother's family.
Okay, okay, I realize that salmon don't have arms. Hardy har har
But seriously folks, they had a wonderful time visiting, and also enjoyed the beauty of Salmon Arm.
Adam's River to be specific.
Adam's River sockeye salmon run
Apparently every four years (2010, 2014, 2018 ...), Adam's River hosts a three week long party to celebrate the sockeye salmon run. Check out details here.
Sockeye salmon 'running'
For those that don't know, salmon swim back to where they were born ... hatched ... to lay their own eggs. This is what is known as a Salmon Run.
It is quite a spectacular site to behold.
Up close and personal informative salmon display
Dreamer & Dan the Man
They had a great time being in God's great outdoors and looking at the wonders of His creation. Imagine being able to be INSIDE a mighty tree trunk to take this shot!
Then finally, after a four hour drive back home, they end the day at a BC Lions football game. It doesn't appear that they are saddened by the fact that their team is doing so poorly this season :o)

You have to take the time to check out this video clip
Do you ever get a chance to skip merrily from one blog or web site to another? Well, I happened upon a bit of time and landed upon this movie trailer featured on you tube.
I don't know much about the man, or the movie, or his impact ... but I think it might be worth a look see.
A Man Named Pearl
I found another video presenting a slide show of his work.
A while ago I received a gift card from House of James (a Christan book store in Abbotsford). I'm not so much into reading books, much to my shame, but I do enjoy a good movie as you may have guessed already.
Hubby and I walked into the DVD section and were set back by all the movies that they offer. After perusing the descriptions of almost all of them, we chose one called Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.
Run, don't walk, to your local Christian book store and purchase this movie. You will not be disappointed.
Here is another youtube video of some inspiring words from Ben Carson.
I have decided to go one step further and share with you some of my favourites. Maybe you are not familiar with some of the movie titles. There is nothing worse than flipping the channels on the TV or walking the aisles of the DVD store wondering what is good and what is awful.
Today let's go back to the year 1938 to a film entitled You Can't Take It With You. It stars Jean Arthur, Lionel Barrymore, James Stewart and Edward Arnold. AND is directed by the wonderful Frank Capra.
(I'm a big Capra fan - Capra films usually carry a definite message about the basic goodness of human nature and show the value of unselfishness and hard work. His wholesome, feel-good themes have led some to term his style Capra-corn)
Overview: At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before you realize that if they are mad, then the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. Tony, the attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore house on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by Mr. and Mrs. Kirby, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. The Sycamores find it hard to understand Alice's view. Tony knows the Sycamores live the right way with love and care for each other, while his own family is the one that's crazy. In the end, Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores after he happens in during a visit by the ex-Grand Duchess of Russia, Olga Katrina, who is currently earning her living as a waitress.
I was looking over a few blogs that I frequent and found information on this most innovative STREETWISE PLANE. Not quite the level of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that we were introduced to many years ago, but totally cool none the less.
For just under $200,000 you can have one of these flying machines in your driveway.
Fueled by regular gasoline you purchase from your neighbourhood gas pump, this little baby is the wave of the future.
With 20 - 40 hours of air flight training, you can soar with the greatest of ease to destinations of your dreams.
The Transition by Terrafugia is definitely on my wish list.
Said to have comfortable seating for two, complete with air bags and a dual GPS: One part road map ... one part air.
Unfortuantely I have already discussed it with my Hubby and he says nix to the idea.
Hello all. Life has been pretty busy lately and I will share more of that in future posts. But for today I would like to introduce you to a evangelical tool. It was presented to our church congregation on Sunday night, and theoretically should be a better tool than the Jesus film. And the Jesus film proclaims this statement:
"Every four seconds, somewhere in the world, another person indicates a decision to follow Christ after watching the "JESUS" film.
Every four seconds... that's 21,000 people per day, 630,000 per month and more than 7.5 million per year! That's like the population of the entire city of Seattle, WA, coming to Christ every 27.5 days. And yet, if you are like most people, you may have never even heard of it."
Although I a totally behind the Jesus film, may I share with you
God's Story: From Creation to Eternity.
A simple animated show / film that can be easily narrated in a new language without lip syncing trouble or need for many different voices. Only a single narrator reading a story during the film. Easy and inexpensive to produce for evangelical distribution and use.
Please check it out here on youtube (there are eight 10 minute parts to it) and then at the God's Story website. Then prayerfully ask God how He can possibly use you using God' Story DVDs.
I felt I had to take a break from sharing about my vacation to bring to you this youtube video presentation . It is called 'Jessica's Daily Affirmation'. Some 2 million people have chosen to view this little girl in action. And it is no wonder as she simply reminds us to feel good about ourselves and our circumstances.
I believe that young Jessica has a wonderful life.
Those that know me, know that I love a good cry ... I cry at sad movies, happy movies, romantic movies and my tears over flow onto great songs. And today, folks, have I got a worth crying over song for you!

Dreamer directed me to this youtube video featuring JJ Heller, a young Christian song-tress. The piece is entitled LOVE ME and I was blubbering half way through it.

I have included the words to the end chorus, but make sure you read all of the words on the video. Enjoy and think about what is being said.
On Saturday our family went for a tour of the new VANCOUVER BRITISH COLUMBIA TEMPLE (Temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). The temple was open for public tours from April 9th through April 24th, 2010 and we caught a glimpse on the last day.
~ * ~
Now before I go any further, please keep in mind that we are Baptist and do not follow the teachings of Joseph Smith or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We simply went for a curious 'visit' and do not wish to bash or condone the Mormons.
That being said, I must say that we had a very organized and informative tour of the new building. First was a short film on the other temples that have been built around the world, and then a woman took us around on a guided tour. She spoke generally of the different rooms and gave us short answers to our questions.
We had to put little booties on our shoes to protect the carpet as we (some thousands of viewers) walked through their temple. I have heard later that all carpets will be removed and replaced with new before their dedication service on May 2nd.
~ * ~
No cameras were allowed inside the temple, but to say that the interior was grand would do a great injustice to the Mormons. It was VERY VERY GRAND indeed. To the Mormons, the temple is the most sacred place on earth and therefore only the finest materials and craftsmanship was used.
Atop the temple a statue of the angel Moroni is perched. Above is a picture of the gilded angel on another temple. I did a little history on the angel ...
Wikipedia states ...
The Angel Moroni is an angel that Joseph Smith, Jr. said visited him on numerous occasions, beginning on September 21, 1823. The angel was the guardian of the golden plates, which Smith said were buried in a hill near his home in western New York, and which he said were the source material for the Book of Mormon. Moroni is an important figure in the theology of the Latter-Day movement and is featured prominently in Mormon architecture and art. Three witnesses besides Joseph Smith said they saw Moroni in 1829 visions, as did several other witnesses who each said they had their own vision.
~ * ~
Moroni is said to be the same person as a Book of Mormon prophet-warrior named Moroni, who was the last to write in the golden plates. The book says that Moroni buried them before he died after a great battle between two pre-Columbian civilizations. After he died, he was resurrected, became an angel, and was tasked with guarding the golden plates, and with eventually directing Joseph Smith to their location in the 1820s. According to Latter Day Saint movement theology, Moroni still has the plates and several other Book of Mormon artifacts in his possession.

Interesting
Hey ... I just found a pretty good video on youtube (yah youtube) that I have embedded below for your viewing. I don't know how they got interior shots, but they did. Check out this 4 minute video.
Tonight, my youngest ... Johnnie Girl ... showed Hubby and I a 20 minute video called THE STORY OF STUFF. Below is the youtube version, but for further information and other videos, I encourage you to check out their web site here. Apparently it was made a few years ago, but as with most things it takes years for us Baby Boomers to catch wind of the 'latest'. Annie Leonard is a fast talking, yet easy-to-listen-to-narrator that not only entertains but also informs as she presents these videos. I highly recommend that you take an evening and check it out. Enjoy!
This is an important post and worthy of all to read it. Not because of fancy wording, or stunning photography ... (it clearly lacks these elements) but because of its higher purpose. It's for needy kids in this world and it's called THE SAMARITAN'S PURSE Christmas Child Shoe Box
For years now I have been collecting this and that to fill shoe boxes. I spread the collection of items over the year and it is rather rewarding to say the least.
I include some toys (the recipients are kids you know), some school supplies and basic hygiene items and anything else that I can find.
Some years I go to the shoe department and ask for empty shoe boxes and other years I find a location, like our church, who supply us with the official Christmas Child Shoe Box.
The youtube video below gives clear instructions of this ministry's purpose and drive behind collecting these shoe boxes. The Samaritan's Purse is a worldwide organization ... and I realize that this video is filmed in Australia or New Zealand or someplace like that, but the message is the same.
Please take the time to Google the Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry in your area and do what you can for the kids.
